Suggest Treatment For Nose Bleed

Hi doctor, I recently kept having nose bleed while taking a shower. It happened 3 times already since beginning of january, 2015. It has never happened before. So I am concerned. It didn t bleed continously, only in the shower. It stopped after I dried myself after the shower. Please kindly advise what is wrong. Thank you. KP

Hi,.
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
Some people do experience nose bleeds while taking hot bath.
Two possible causes: the increase in temperature can dilate the capillaries. This would increase blood flow through all capillaries, including the nose, increasing the chance for a bleed.
The other possible explanation is that the mucous membranes of the nose get irritated due to a change in humidity.
Nothing to worry.
I recommend the following.

1) Avoid taking bath with very hot water. Take bath with warm water.
2) Open your mouth and pinch your nose to stop bleeding.
3) Oxymetazoline nasal drops for stopping the bleeding.
