Hello Thanks for asking from Health Care Magic
Risk of depression increases if there is incidence of depression in family and especially in parents or first degree relatives. You are already having night mares and suicidal thoughts so as per my opinion this is the time to
consult a Psychiatrist. The reason of nightmares is also depression. Till you visit a psychiatrist you can try following methods like-
- Increase diet rich in carbs and protein and low in fat. Such diet will increase
tryptophan in brain and will improve symptoms of depression.
- Low
vitamin B12 levels are common finding in depression. Start taking supplements of vitamin B12.
- Omega-3-Fatty acid supplements can give good results. Omega fatty acids help in improving the symptoms.
- Exercise daily and practice yoga and
meditation for best results.
If symptoms don't improve with these methods consult a psychiatrist for treatment. SSRIs like
Fluoxetine, Paroxetine etc are commonly used in mild to moderate depression.
Hope this helps you, thanks
