I am on Levaquin 500 mg to treat a sinus infection. I always take this antibiotic because it usually has no side effects (like the Z-Pack). I have been on it 3 days out of 7 and am experience upper stomach pain and nausea. Do I just stop taking it?

Hi,
Thanks for contacting healthcaremagic.
Levaquin is the brand name of levofloxacin which belongs to the category of fluroquinolones.
Levofloxacin is not free of side effects and long term use may cause some problem,so regular use is not advised.prolonged use of levaquin may cause weakening of your joints, tendons, nerves and tendon rupture is a relatively common adverse effect.
In your question you are already on day three of your course,so you can continue the full regime.
Since you have some gastric intolerance to the drug try to have the drug after meals. You can add a simple antacid like Rantac(ranitidine) to avoid nausea and stomach pain.
Please try to avoid self treatment with antibiotics.
Hope this will work.
Thank you.
