Suggest Treatment For Nausea And Acid Reflux

I have had acid reflux for several years that was controlled by Prilosec. My urologist recently told me to stop taking Prilosec due to kidney issues. Now, my acid reflux is worse than ever and nothing seems to alleviate the nausea and food/acid coming up in my throat. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern.
You have develop acid reflux that cause regurgitation of the food in the throat.
I would suggest to consult the gastroenterologist and undergo upper GI endoscopy to know the severity and any other pathology.
But you should try following advice
Proton pump inhibitor: esmoprazole plus domperidone 30 minutes before the meal
Syrup muicine before the meal
Propanolol and nitroglyverin can be useful to relax the tone of lower esophageal sphincter.
Take small frequent meal rather than large meal
Avoid oily/spicy/fatty food, alcohol and smoking.
Do not sleep immediately after meal.
Make angle of 45 degree while sleeping (Head rise position)

Hope this may help you.
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
