Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion And Severe Cough In A Child

My five year old has had a cold about 8 days now. He has lots of nasal congestion, with some coughing at night. He does not have a fever. Somewhat diminished appetite. No other symptoms until now. Now he has a rash on his torso, front and back. (He s been on children s Robitussin, for daytime and nighttime. Thank you. Leta Bogle YYYY@YYYY

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of nasal congestion and severe cough in a child which is due to upper respiratory tract infection . Need not to worry about it. You should go for steam inhalation on daily basis along with nasal vaporizers. You should put xylomist nasal drops to prevent congestion. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment as per diagnosis. Drink plenty of warm water with one spoon of honey in it . Also take steam several times a day . Take decongestant nasal sprays containing mucinex for instant relief. You should take chicken soup along with along with lemon tea. Take diet rich in vitamin C. Take combination of Livofloxacin along with Levocetrizine.
