Suggest Treatment For Muscle Spasms In Rib Cage Area

For the last 2 years I have been having muscle spasm like cramps in the rib cage area that come on suddenly and last about 1-2 minutes. Lately they have migrated higher and involve my left chest area. My family doctor does not seem concerned and really hasn't answered my questions. What could be causing this and how can I stop it.

Since you are having left sided chest pain, in my opinion you should first undergo ECG atleast to rule out any underlying cardiac problem. And also chest x ray to rule out lung cause. If all these normal than than it must be a muscular pain. For this you need to follow these steps.
1. Avoid heavy weight lifting.
2. Take proper rest.
3. Avoid movements of the chest causes pain.
4. Take good pain killers and muscle relaxant.
5. Apply hot water during bath at pain sight.
