Hello,
Sudden lose of muscle volume may suggest a severe disorder. If I were the treating doctor I would advise investigations to rule out any rheumatic or connective tissue disorder. I would also advise a muscle biopsy to close in on the diagnosis. I would suggest regaining muscle volume once these tests are negative.
Hope I have answered all your queries. If you have any more questions I would be happy to help. Thank you.
