Suggest Treatment For Multiple Fibroids

I m getting ready to have a laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy. I am wanting to keep my ovaries if possible. I am turning 50 this week. I m thinking I need to keep my cervix too. I m worried about losing my sex drive and not being able to have orgasms again. I have multiple fibroids and have had extremely heavy periods. I also have a lot of back pain which I am convinced is from the fibroids and enlarged uterus. What is the best way to keep my sex drive?

Hello,
Sex drive has nothing to do with the uterus and the cervix; it is the hormones that play the part. Please do not start considering yourself abnormal once you no longer have the uterus and the cervix. Since you are going to have the hysterectomy for fibroids and considering your age, it is advisable to get the cervix also removed. Most often, the ovaries are retained if normal at the request of the patient, else, at this age, they are also removed. Simple perineal exercises and supplements are sufficient to live a healthy normal sexually active life. Hope this helps.
