Suggest Treatment For Mucous In Stool In Pregnant Woman

I am 15 weeks pregnant with my second child. The last couple of weeks I've been experiencing mucous in my stool and it's painful when I have to go. I asked my OB about it at my last appointment but the symptoms had eased up so we weren't too worried about it and he mentioned it could've been a virus. The symptoms came back after 4 days and have not went away since. I don't go back to my OB for another week. What could this be and is it serious?

Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
A small amount of mucus in stools is normal but if you are having larger amount of mucus with pain it could be due to intestinal infection. My advice for you is to drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated. If the amount of mucus is less then do not worry about it. But if the quantity is more then visit your gynecologist as it may need an evaluation.
Hope that answers your question,
Regards, Dr.Imaad.
