Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just got home from a 5 day cruise yesterday. I did experience motion sickness on board the ship even though I was taking zofran every 6 hours. The main symptoms were dizziness and fatigue. I was a little nauseaus but no vomiting which I assumed meant the zofran was working. I have been on several cruises and always get a little dizzy and nauseaus on board as well as off the ship. These symptoms have always disappeared within a few hours, but this time they do not seem to be getting better. I am wondering how long this might last?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Motion sickness is a disturbing factor in pleasure of sight seeing. I understand your problem. Motion sickness can be managed by- - Wearing an eye device ViBAN .It blocks the motion outside the moving vehicle. - Staring at the horizon in the direction of travels reduces the motion sickness considerably. -The medicines like Drammamin/ Stugeron taken 2 hours prior the travel & then repeated 8 hourly helps. One should take minimum possible (1?2 pill 8 Hrly) dose to avoid side effect of sleep, which can hamper pleasure of site seeing.(Zofran is anti emetic drug preventing nausea. but it does not have any effect on dizziness.) The dizziness should disappear within 3 days with the stugeron pill 2/3 times a day.One must take rest too. -wearing LCD shutter glasses, so as to produce stroboscopic vision. Thanks
