Suggest Treatment For Migraines And Memory Loss

I take Tramadal for severe pain that is the result of an injury I suffered when I was teaching school. I have been taking this for a long time. Sometimes I take one in the morning and also usually need to take more later in the day. I have been prescribed 2 tabs. three times a day if needed. I also suffer from occipital neuralgia resulting in severe migraine headaches. Before a snow or rain I get extremely sick with the severe pain in the right side of my head. I lose days because of this. Right now I am experiencing memory loss and I am really frightened. I just turned 71 in July. Can you share any information that may help me? Thank you so much.

Migraine treatment fall in two parts.
One is primary prophylaxis in which propranolol, fulnarizine or amitryptiline like medicines should be taken daily to prevent headache to occur.
Other is secondary prophylaxis in which triptan or NSAIDs group of medicines taken as soon as headache starts.

As you are at age of 70 likely possibility of some forgetfulness.
If you have blood pressure or diabetes, go for MRI brain to evaluate vascular dementia due to brain. If MRI normal, it may be initial sign of Alzehimer's disease and for that you need to consult neurologist or psychiatrist. Donepezil, memantine and multivitamins and brain exercises like solving puzzles is the treatment to prevent progress of dementia.
