General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Lupus is one of the autoimmune diseases, this essentially means that the body is 'fighting' against itself or 'reacting' to itself resulting in destruction or damage in different areas.

Unfortunately there is no cure for lupus but there is medication that can be used to help decrease the effect or slow the progress of the disease.
In addition to medication to help suppress the 'fight against itself', she can also get pain medication to help deal with the discomfort that she is experiencing.

She should discuss all of her concerns with her doctor

I hope this helps
