Hard lump on scalp between top of scalp and ear closer to the top of the head. Skin moves freely over it and it feels almost hard enough to be bone. What are next steps to check thos out? I have no idea how long its been there. How concerned should i be? Thank you so much!!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You would need to be seen by your general doctor. He or she can do your initial assessment and refer you as needed.

It is possible that the lesion is benign (non cancerous), this is most likely but it would be best for it to be assessed.
Your doctor likely suggest imaging either an ultrasound or x ray.

If it very hard or firm then an x ray is most likely the investigation that would be requested.
If it is benign and not likely associated with any problems then monitoring may be the form of treatment suggested.

I hope this helps
