Suggest Treatment For Lump Near The Shoulder Blade

My husband had a bump on his back right below his shoulder blade. Once in awhile we d squeeze it and white thick stuff would come out but the bump never would go away. The other day he said it was hurting him,so I tried everything I could to get all the white gunk out to give him relief. Instead I think we made it worse. The top of it looks very infected and all around it is very red and the skin is tight. You can feel a pretty big bump under the skin. I want him to go to the doctor, but he keeps saying to just wait. I m worried over him.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome at HCM.
I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns...
Based upon the history you have provided it seems to be an abscess... You should consult a surgeon so that it can be examined and drained..and proper antibiotics can be prescribed...
Meanwhile take rest and use acetaminophen to relieve pain.
Get well soon ...
