Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been deferred from donating plasma three times because of my heart rate. The first time it was 128, but it gets higher every time because I'm so nervous I won't pass. The second time it was 138 and today it was 150. How can I lower this so that I can donate?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have rapid heart rate. Well one may experience fast heart rate for a variety of reasons, and often the solution is to address the underlying cause. For instance, a fever triggers , panic attacks or dehydration. Rapid heart rate can have many harmless causes, some causes are serious. Very rapid heart rate can cause your blood pressure to plummet to dangerously low levels, which can lead to dizziness or even shock . This can also stress the heart and cause chest pain or a heart attack. I would suggest you to consult cardiologist , who may perform valsalva maneuver , carotid maneuver or may give IV betablockers along with diuretics .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
