Hi. I self skidded on a motorcycle about a month ago and injured my right knee as a result. MRI scan showed that I have ruptured my PCL, low grade tear in ACL, grade 2 tear in MCL, ruptured FCL. Extensive bone bruising at the anterior aspect of both tibial condyles with adjacent cartilage defects, consistent with osteochondral injuries. Cortical flattening/irregularity noted at the anteromedial aspect of the medial tibial condyle, suspicion for an impaction fracture. Partial tear at the musculotendinous junction of the popliteus tendon, oedema is seen around the area of the acuate ligament complex, suggesting injury. A mainly longitudinal tear is evident along the capsular margin of the body of the medial meniscus with disruption of the meniscofemoral ligament. A partial thickness radial tear is also seen at the posterior crus. A longitudinal tear is noted in the anterior horn of the lateral meniscus. It s been a month, doctor still have not decided on whether to go for reconstruction surgery yet. I have been going for physiotherapy for strengthening. Right now, I am able to limp without the support of crutches. However I am unable to fully extend or bend my knee yet due to stiffness and slight swelling. The swell has reached a minimal size but can t seem to subside any further. I am also starting to development rashes on my right leg as well. Can I know what are my chances of going for reconstruction surgery? And will it be better to go for surgery or not as I was being told that reconstructed PCL has tendency of becoming loose over time. Will I also be a victim of arthritis in future? What can I do now to recover faster? Will I be able to go back to high intensity sports? How long will it take for me to recover fully, with or without surgery? What should I expect if my doctor decides for surgery or not? Will my knee become useless due to so many injuries? Sorry to bombard with so many questions but I m really very lost and worried. Thank you!
