Suggest Treatment For Leg Ulcers

I have type 2 diabetes and have developed leg ulcers on my left front and side, shin and calf area. The VA has looked at them and given me those 96 hour bandages. The wound nurse has looked at the wounds twice and said they re ok. In the three months I have been dealing with them the ulcers have tripled in size. Question shouldn t I be given antibiotics? The skin is red and sometimes hot to touch.

Diabetic ulcerations are slow to heal by virtue of multitude of etiologies viz angiopathy, neuropathy, infections, poor control of blood glucose levels etc.
Antibiotics have a role only if there is associated clinical or microbiological evidence of infection.
strict control of the glucose levels, maintenance of hygiene and proper dressings are the key to healing of such ulcerations
Thanks
Take care
