I have developed a large bruise on my left arm near my elbow, with a white bump the size of a jelly bean that moves when touched. Two days ago the bruise was the size of a small plum. I did not hit the arm on anything. It is warm to the touch, Today it is spreading. And there is another smaller white bump and a little patch of three or four red bubbles on the edge of the bruise. It does not itch. I ve just returned from 24 days in Hawaii (7-14) and spent much time snorkeling in the ocean and playing in the sand on the beach. Of course, I took several planes over as well. Should I go to the emergency room?
Hi. As per your case history you are having multiple furuncles. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
