Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. You are suffering from bilateral knee joint osteoarthritis. X-ray can confirm it.
2. Cartilage is getting damaged and will progress further, if not controlled through pharmacological and non pharmacological therapy.
3. Non pharmacological therapy involves weight reduction, physiotherapy, muscle strengthening around joint and knee support.
4. Pharmacological therapy involves NSAIDS painkillers for pain. Gluocasamine sulphate, chondroitin suplphate can be taken orally and helps in improving cartilage. If pain is severe, intra articular corticosteroid injection maybe taken occasionally.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
