Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Back

Hello, I was released from the hospital yesterday after an appendectomy. I was on hydrocordone/acedamet. and several antibiotics (cipro and one other). I have developed an extensive itching rash on my back. I ve applied cortizone topical gel which seems to be working in suppresing the itching. I was unable to turn from side to side in the hospital and spent almost the entire time on my back. Any thoughts as to origin of the rash?

Hi.
As per your case history you are irritant dermatitis.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
