Hi I have the top of my butt crack that feels like the skin at the top is webbed and it sometimes gets itchy and red and bleeds sometimes . Very confused about what this could be/mean. It happens more when I don t shower but it does still happen when I shower. Gets worse when I m sweaty.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query.
Age, gender, duration of symptoms not mentioned.
The features described in your case are suggestive of pilonidal sinus caused by ingrowing hairs.
A pilonidal sinus is a small hole or "tunnel" in the skin that develops in the cleft of the buttocks where the buttocks separate.

Treatment may not be necessary for a pilonidal sinus if it's not infected.
Keep the area as clean and dry as possible.
Removing hair from the area by shaving or using hair removal creams. This should reduce the risk of an infection.
If your pilonidal sinus does become infected like itching, discharge of blood and pus then it has to be surgically removed.

The preferred technique for a first pilonidal sinus is incision and drainage of the sinus, removing the hair follicles, and packing the cavity with gauze.

This is a simple procedure done under local anaesthesia. This requires frequent changing of the gauze packing until the sinus heals, which sometimes takes up to 3-4 weeks.

Hope these suggestions could be of help in getting the treatment.

Regards.
