Suggest Treatment For Interstitial Lung Disease

I just had a CT and it said tMild scarring is ween at both lung bases with interstitial prominence. This is more prominent of the right middle lobe. Mild biannual pleural thickening with interstitial prominence is noted. I also have a 3 mm pulmonary nodule in the right lower lobe that they want to watch for one year. I think i am more frightened about what is the interstitial prominence than the nodule at this time.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Your CT picture is more suggestive of early interstitial lung disease (ILD).
Better to first get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to know if any restrictive lung defect present or not.
Treatment for ILD is as follows.
1. Avoidance of smoking if you are smoker.
2. Avoidance of chemicals, fumes, dust at work place if you have these exposure.
3. Start mucolytic, expectorant and antioxidants drugs.
4. Start anti fibrotic drug (perfinodone). It is the only available drug to reverse early fibrosis.
5. Start inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
6. Get done repeat CT scan after 3 months to see progression of fibrosis and size of nodule.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
