Suggest Treatment For Insomnia Caused Due To Frequent Urination And BPH

Hello, I generally fall asleep without using a sleep aide when i first go to sleep, but I end up waking up generally 3 to 4 times in the night due to BPH and urination. I like sleeping on my side but Im forced to stay on my back due to Arthritis pains in my shoulders. Once I have awoken for the 3rd or 4th time and find im having trouble falling back asleep then I will use 2.5 to 5 mg ambien to help me successfully to fall back asleep, otherwise I end up feeling really tired most of the day cause i only slept 4 or 5 hours without sleep aid . My plan is to see a urologist for my BPH and shoulder specialist to find something to help my shoulders feel better to sleep better. Do you have alternative recommendations on how to manage my difficulty falling asleep after waking up several times for long periods for urination and then the less comfortable way of trying to fall back asleep on my back without using medication? I would like some alternative ideas. Also If i choose to use the ambien to fall back asleep for the 3rd and 4th time at night will I be causing myself problems? It works for me well now.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if the underlying cause of the sleep disturbances is the BPH and joint condition then it has to be treated in that manner and it is not at all advisable to try any sedative f the alternative therapy works then better to try this, for the time being but first is to treat the underlying cause hope this information helps.
