Suggest Treatment For Insect Bites On Child

Hello, My child is almost 3 years old. He appears to have significant amount of bites (perhaps fly or mosquito) - more than 30 on both thighs. I have applied advantan cream and 3 hours later tea tree oil. Due to excessive swelling of bites and itchiness I have also taken 5ml of children s claratyne. I am concerned of the poison in his system, are there any additional side effects that I should be looking for? Should I be doing anything more? best, concerned parent

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that due to a large number of insect bites there has been allergic reaction to the toxic chemical injected by the insects under his skin leading to swelling and itching..

But as he does not have any systemic symptoms like dizziness, breathlessness etc you need not to worry as there does not seems to be excessive concentration of toxins in his blood and he will gradually recover from the swelling and itching too..

You should continue applying Advantan cream that is a steroid formulation and will help in reducing inflammation, swelling and itching..
Claritin that is an anti allergic should also be continued..
You can also apply Calamine lotion to reduce irritation..
You can also do cool compresses over the swellings..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
