Suggest Treatment For Ingrown Toe Nail Infection

A few months ago my big toe on my left foot had an ingrown toenail that became infected so I broke down and finally had it removed. It s been fine up until just today when I noticed it hurt to put pressure on it. Just now I touched it and squeezed and a white, sticky, sour-smelling fluid came out. I m not sure if it s another infection or not. The other night I did hit it on something when I was getting into my car. Could that be what is causing it to ooze this discharge? Like I said I haven t had any problems with it since I had the surgery just until today. Please help! Thank you, Macee.

Hi.
As per your case-history you are having paronychia (infection of nail-fold).
My treatment advice is-
1. Avoid tight ill-fitting shoes or any such foot-wear.
2. Use fusidic acid cream twice daily on oozing part and clotrimazole lotion once at night
3. Take NSAID like ibuprofen for pain. Oral antibiotic may be needed if complain persists for more than 7 days.
4. In-grown toe nail may have recuured. So get it checked by a dermatologist.

Thanks.
