Suggest Treatment For Inflammation Of The Gums

Hi..i just had my crown inserted abt 2 weeks ago. About 4 days later i noticed there is a puss under the gum where the crown is fixed. And also there is gum inflamation around that area. My dentist recommend me to rinse my mouth with warm salt water for the inflamation 3 x a day for 5 days. I already did that and the inflamation is still there my question is will the crown need to be taken out by the dentist because of the puss. And do we feel pain when our gums inflammed.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of inflammation of the gums which is due to tissue laceration while crown fitting and due to ill fitting of crown at times. Need not to worry about it. Sometimes it will take few days to adjust. I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get it examined. Maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily. Take combination of Metronidazole and Amoxicillin for 5 days. Avoid intake of sticky food. Do Listerine mouthwash gargles. Keep maintaining hygiene to prevent further food debris and bacterial accumulation. Gargle with warm saline rinses.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
