Suggest Treatment For Inflammation Of The Colon And Intestines

Hi, I am a 19 yr. old female. I have been taking lialda for 9 mths. Now for inflammation of the colon and intestines. I have gained about 35 lbs. is it likely that this drug is causing my weight gain and my insurance company says they are not going to pay for Lialda anymore. Is there another drug that can only be taken once a day also?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about a 19 year old female taking Lialda for 9 months for inflammation of the colon and intestine, gained 35 lbs - wants to know whether the medicine is causing weight gain and also wants to know whether there is any other drug that can be taken once a day...
Lialda is Mesalamine and used for inflammation of the intestine and colon.
Since this is so effective in your case that your intestines have recovered to cause a weight gain.
It would be hard to change over to any other medicines as there is no guarantee for the effectiveness of any other alternative medicines.
Hence I would advise you to follow the same and fight with the Insurance Company as to why can not they for this medicine as this comes under essential category.
