Suggest Treatment For Infection And Pain On The Tooth

Few days ago i was using toothpick upper gums without proper caution and i injured my gums b/w two teeth then i start feeling huge pain then one of doctor suggest me to take amoxcillin 500mg twice daily for 5 days but the pain didn't go then i visit a dentist who suggest me scaling and clean the cavity and so i did that and gave me another antibiotics for 5 days and yesterday i finished that and then i made full dental OPG and there is sign of infection but today still im feeling sensation into my gums if i take hot tea in the morning and feel slight pain today ... i want to know how long the pain stay if the gum is injured or traumatized by that toothpick ..

Hi..
Can understand your concern...

As per your complain in case if you have traumatized your gums using a toothpick it has led to inflammation and infection of gums leading to pain..

As you have got the Scaling as well as course of antibiotics done there is more chance of flaring up of infection anymore but the injured tissue which got inflammed will take some time to heal and you need not to worry as in a period of 4 to 5 days or maximum a week the gums will heal completely and you will be assymptomatic..

You can use desensitizing tooth paste like thermoseal or sensoform for relieving sensitivity..

For pain you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Advil or Ibuprofen..

Avoid taking very hot or very cold foods and liquids as it can cause more sensitivity and discomfort..
