The symptoms of hypothyroidism take longer time to recover. Once started on medications the symptoms start improving by 2-3 weeks and it may take about 3 months for complete resolution of symptoms.
The thyroid function test will normalise by 6 weeks. So you can do a test after 6 weeks and decide whether the medication dose is appropriate.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you.
