Suggest Treatment For Hypertension And Fungal Ear Infection

I m a 69 yr. old male with COPD, hypertension, type 2 diabetic, chronic pain etc., I live in Illinois. I have what I suspect is a fungal ear infection. Have used Mupirocin ointment 2% with no success....keeps spreading. Its painful to touch and on the inside of the front lobe of the ear is swollen and gets like a growth of hair on the inside of it. I can wipe this hair off with tissue or Q tip and stand there and watch it grow back in a matter of seconds. It really reacts to hydrogen peroxide or vinegar. The white hairs really come popping out....I can see it, hear it and feel it (stings) and it s really freaking me out. Never seen or heard of anything like it. Have started treating with clotrimazole and terbinafine. What do you think?

Hi,

Yes, you have several diseases and it's good seem to be managing them well. Your questions are on hypertension and the war ache. Hope the rest of diseases are well managed now, Ear ache seems the major problem her due to pain and growth. This needs close follow up First do some rest to confirm the real cause. You need to rule out fungal infection, bacterial infection, Abnormal growth tumor, full hemogram, swab for both fungal and bacterial culture, biopsy for histology to confirm both infection and tumor. You need to consult ENT specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mutuma Geoffrey Zambezi
