Suggest Treatment For Hydrocephalus

My baby is almost 6 months old and has hydrocephalus. He now has a shunt. Because he was born premature (2 months), he is slower than the average infant in reaching milestones. I want to enroll us in playgroups or infant stimulation classes to help him "catch up". Are there activities to avoid. Can he hurt himself?

hi,

thanks for your question.

as long as your child's shunt is in good working order there is nothing else
really that you need to do.

this shunt should be checked at regular intervals and you should be aware of the symptoms associated with a block shunt such as vomiting and a decreased conscious level.

I hope this answers your question.

best wishes
