Suggest Treatment For Hip Pain

the pain in my right leg (where the hip joins the leg) was unbearable while exercising today. It often hurts going up the steps. Also, the side of my right knee aches when I go to bed. Is this an IT band injury? I had the right hip xrayed two years ago: no arthritis.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain in hip while exercise and climbing stairs along with pain in sides of knee and the common cause for both the pains can be Ilio-tibial band injury or IT band injury that occurs due to overuse of the muscles..
Other causes can be Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, nerve damage,Avasculr Necrosis, Osteeoporosis etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated and he can advise investigations like x ray, MRI scan, blood tests etc to rule out the exact cause of pain and treat you accordingly..

You can be advised anti inflammatory painkillers, muscle relaxants, calcium supplements, warm/cool compresses, physiotherapy, knee brace etc can also be advised..
Avoid excessive exertion and also loose weight if you are obese..
Avoid long hours of sitting or standing..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
