Suggest Treatment For High Fever In A Child
My son 6+ yrs is having fever from past 2 days on and off.Have symptoms of lil phlem also.I have been giving calpol to him and gave little steam,he stopped eating anything.Can I give him Meftal or ibulgesic they are already available at my home.Please suggest.

Fever is a symptom of an underlying disease. There are many causes of fever such as malaria, typhoid, infectious mononucleosis, TB, Dengue etc. Calpol, Ibugesic and Meftal are anti – pyretic and it brings down fever. But these will not cure fever. These will provide symptomatic relief only.
Advice
1. Table Taxim – O (50 mg) every 12 hurs per oral for 5 days
2. Calpol 500 mg per oral if fever occurs
3. Cold water sponging if fever is more than 100 degree Farenheight
4. Investigations – CBC, ESR, Widal test, blood smear for malaria parasite, and dengue NS1 antigen
Consult a doctor with reports if fever is not relieved by above measures.
