Suggest Treatment For High Fever And Dry Cough

i have had a fever the past four days. the highest temp reading was 102.5. that was two days ago and its been averaging around 99 since. i started not to feeling well when i noticed my chest/lungs were getting uncomfortable. i do have a dry cough but it is not that often. when i cough its raspy and feels like i should have flem but its rare that it produces any flem. i am not a smoker. i am 60 years old

Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to viral infection/flu. I would suggest to consult your primary care physician for detailed examination and undergo some relevant test (Complete blood count, test for malarial parasite, any other pathogen predominant in your region, chest x-ray) to rule out other possible cause.

I will suggest you following advises for next 3 days:

- Tablet NUROMOL (IBUPROFEN PLUS PARACETAMOL) three times a day after food
- Tablet SUDAFED Decongestant Tablets two times a day
- Syrup BROMEX (BROMHEXINE) three times a day
- Bed rest Warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can help
- Take a soft diet and drink plenty of lukewarm water

Other specific treatment depend on cause. You can take prescribed antibiotic like amoxiclav to prevent infection.
