Suggest Treatment For High Fever After MMR Injection
Dear Doctor, My son 12yrs got his MMR injection on last Friday (8 days back). Now today he got a high fever all of a sudden in the mid-night. Almost 2hours back his temparature was 104.7. We have given 500 mg paracentamol tab also did luke-warm water spunging. Now after 2 hrs his temparature is 100.9 measured on ear termometer. Please advise what to do?

Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is not to be worried about. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
You can treat fever with Paracetamol at 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly if fever is > 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever as usually most combination medicines combine Paracetamol with NSAIDs and is not advisable.
