Suggest Treatment For High Cholesterol

I have high cholesterol...395/245. I have a local internal medicine doctor. I was on statins, i.e., crestor, etc. but seemed to be bothered with muscle aches and pains. He put me on Welchol, a powder I take with water with my lunch. It has done nothing to correct my cholesterol problems. I went to Medical Weight Loss Clinic, was tested and received the above cholesterol results. My doctor usually tests me every 6 weeks for cholesterol but this time he just told me to come back in 6 months. I need a doctor who can help me with this problem. Can you advise. I watch my diet. High Cholesterol was a problem for my parents. I am 70 years old, weigh 195 pounds, 5 3 tall.

hello,
I have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM.
you must understand that your cholesterol levels are very high.As I understand that you are not tolerating crestor.Statins are very important for your problem.I suggest you to take crestor at half the dose which you were taking along with Vit.D preparation.Incidence of muscle ache may reduce.Secondly you may try another statin like pitavastatin or atorvastatin which may be better tolerated by you.
My best wishes
Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
