Suggest Treatment For High Cholesterol

173 cms 71 kgs, 47 years male on anti hypertensive with total cholesterol 215, LDL 131, HDL 52, VLDL 32 fasting blood sugar 100.



Does physical excercise four times a week brisk walking for 45 minutes covering 4.5 kms. Mixed diet with lot of fibre and fall in high risk group, alcohol twice a week and smokes one cigarette day.



Does he require statins?

You are doing quite well with your lifestyle. I would advise you to go ahead, quit smoking, try to avoid fast food, animal fat.
I this case there will be no need for statins, unless there is documented ischemic heart disease.
