Suggest Treatment For High Blood Sugar Levels

My sugar in blood was detected about 6 years back. Since last 3 years I am regularily taking medicines as prescribed by the doctor. I have Accu-check for sugar test at home. Sugar Fasting is normally 115 & Sugar PP is normally 165. Recent test report are as below:

HbA1c: 6.4% & EAG: 137 mg/dl, Sugar (F): 118mg/dl, Urea:24mg/dl, Creatinine: 1.2mg/dl, LIPID PROFILE: Cholestral:135mg,Triglyceride:67mg,HDL:51mg,LDL:63mg,VLDL:21MG.

From above test reports it appears that Sufar (F) is above maximum border line & LDL Cholestral is less than required level.

Presently I am taking Half Tab Glucobay M before BF and One Tab Enselin before dinner & one Tab Storvas 10 after Dinner.

Based on my above recent report my physician has changed my medicine as prescribed below: One Tab Gemer 2mg before BF & one Tab Opticulin after BF and One Tab Storvas 5 mg after Dinner.

Plz have your expert advice.

Thanks & Regards

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear Sir,
I must first tell you that your sugars are absolutely fine. Although fb is slightly above normal your hba1c is under perfect control. I do not agree with the change in medicine with just one reading especially when hba1c is under good control. I feel your doc must have given you credit and continued with the same old schedule. I fully agree with the dose reduction of statins for cholesterol. Now with the dose increase in sugar tablets there is a chance of hypoglycemia. Continue to check blood sugars with the old regimen and if fb is less than 110 and ppbs less than 160 avoid gemer and stick to your old schedule itself.
Hope I have answered your query
