Suggest Treatment For High Blood Pressure

i have been dealing with some high blood pressure for the last 3 weeks and my Dr. put me one some medication last week which lowered it considerably. I am due to start my period in a day or two and just checked my BP and it has risen again. is that normal?

Hi.. You have not provided any information on which drug you were on or the blood pressure readings.
If the initial drug you were taking had brought down the blood pressure within normal limits (around 120/80 mm of Hg), then I would suggest you to continue the drug.
Please bear in the mind that antihypertensive drugs are never to be stopped abruptly. You can reduce the dose or stop only if the blood pressure goes way below normal.
When you are approaching periods, blood pressure may raise because of the accompanying stress. A minor increase would not mind attention but if it is causing you symptoms like headache, blurred vision and giddiness, then the dose of antihypertensive medications needs to be increased or other drugs need to be added.
