The common cause of high blood pressure in
a.     Essential hypertension - most common cause
b.     Renal hypertension
c.     Hyperthyroidism
d.     Lifestyle – Diet / Nutrition
e.     Sleep apnea syndrome
f.     Cushing’s Syndrome
There are many more uncommon causes.
Correct diagnosis and treatment is essential for prevent future cardiovascular disease. High blood pressure can lead to stroke, hypertensive nephropathy, heart attack and vision loss.
Your BP is 140/100 mmHg. This is quite high relative to your age. So you need to start treatment with medicines as well as lifestyle modifications which I suggest you as below. Also I will suggest you some tests that might help in diagnosing the cause of high BP in early age. However, essential hypertension is the most common cause for which no cause is known.
Advice
1.     Start Eziday as suggested by your doctor
2.     Consume less salt in diet
3.     Start workout in gym – minimum half an hour in a day for 4 – 5 days in a week. Start with a balanced mix of cardio, weight training and flexibility exercises
4.     Avoid smoking, coffee, caffeinated beverages and alcohol
5.     Do meditation
6.     Avoid mental stress
7.     Avoid high fat diet such as ghee, milk, cheese, oil, chips, samosa and non-vegetarian diet
8.     Consume more fiber such as whole grin, green leafy vegetables, and juicy fruits
9.     Loose weight if you are overweight
10.     Investigations
a.     Serum creatinine
b.     Serum T4 & TSH
