Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The last time I had my blood pressure checked was about 4 days ago. It read 161/108. I m a 34 year old single mother of a 7 year old. I do smoke cigarettes(about half a pack a day), I am about 5 6 weighing close to 130lbs. Heart disease runs on my mother s side and both my parents had heart attacks before the age of 50. My mother had her first heart attack at the age of 30. She since has had a total of 5 heart attacks and 4 open heart surgeries. I m wondering how at risk of having a heart attack am I? I currently don t have a primary doctor, but do I also need a cardiologist? Can you reccommended some to me, please? I live in West Richland, Wa. Thank you
hi, I am sorry to say, but you have high risk of developing coronary heart disease. And with your smoking habit, it makes worse, I would advice you to quit smoking, and have cardiac lifestyle. I strongly recommend you to have yearly follow up with a cardiologist, or primary care physician with good cardiology background. Get assessed for your serum cholesterol, and Stress ECG. he would guide in most of it .
