Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood pressure was 198-122. I went to my GP. He gave me 240mg verapamil. 6 days later my blood pressure has come down as low as 136-91. But I suffer from migraines all day. I have tried extra strength Tylenol and migraine excedrin. Sometimes they help but most of the times it doesn t. Are headaches common as your bp pressure is coming down or should I have the GP give me something to combat the headaches.
Hi welcome to HCM Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker used in hypertension. It is also helpful in preventing migranous attacks.Side effects of verapamil include nausea, facial flushing, dizziness, headaches .So though headache is a side effect,it is preventive against migraine.Take drugs like NSAIDs to releive headache.if you still have migranous attacks speak to your doctor regarding addition of triptans for migraine. If you still feel uncomfortable cha.ge your drug.Consult your doctor for expert management. Thankyou.
