Hi doctor, my father is having less sleep. He is only taking 2 hours sleep daily. He is a patient of high bp but as trika is not allowed to be sold in market and doctor is not ready to suggest this as prescription, he has not taken this medicine from last 1 month due to which he is not able to sleep further his mood and personality has changed and looks that he is going into depression. Please suggest . we have 30 tablets of .5 mg as stock
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. First of all I'd like to tell you that Trika or Alprazolam is not an antidepressant drug. The drug is a benzodiazepine drug used in anxiety commonly and also in sleep conditions. The drug is having high abuse potential so should be used under prescription only. The drug wouldn't result in improvement in his symptoms. So please dont search for proscription of this medicine instead consider consulting a psychiatrist for his symptoms. He has high BP and is showing depressive symptoms. Medicines like Pregabalin or Gabapentin etc can help to reduce his withdrawal symptoms without Trika. For depression SSRIs can help. Paroxetine, Sertraline etc can help in good sleep also.
