Suggest Treatment For Hiatal Hernia

Hi ....I have acid reflux, GERD ...I think they are both the same? and a slight hiatal hernia. I am wondering what the best foods are for improving my condition and what can I do about the hiatal hernia. I feel like my food is stuck in my chest and it doesn t go down so well. But I m not sure what to eat. I have cut out bread/wheat. dairy, soy and peanuts.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Gastro-esophageal reflux disease or GERD is same as acid reflux disease.
Hiatus hernia is the probable cause of GERD.
Hiatus hernia leads to pulling of the upper part of stomach into the chest compartment.
The part of stomach which is pulled up is responsible of frequent reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus.
Proton pump inhibitors (PPI) are a group of drugs which prevent the reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus.
These drugs will provide symptomatic relief, however, surgery is the definitive treatment for this condition.
Thus, surgical correction of the condition is required to core the condition permanently.
I suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist for further work up.

Thanks and take care
