Suggest Treatment For Hernias In Belly Button And Pelvis Area

Hello, I have just undergone a third hernia repair-I have three one near belly button one just below and another in the pelvic area-the first fix was completed by a plastic surgeon he just stitched them and complete the tummy tuck 3 years later two hernias became herniated and they were afraid of strangulation of my colon-three weeks after surgery my incision became infected and instead of culturing they treated with antibiotic-it turned out to be MRSA two years later I fell broke pelvis needed surgery for screws and a pin-contacted MRSA again and they also determined the hernias were out -fixed again by stitching-did not want to use mesh because of MRSA-now 4 months later my hernias are out again-help! Should I let them operate again and use mesh---what about MRSA are ther other options?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
MRSA is a stubborn bacteria.
Treatment of MRSA requires drug sensitivity for the stubborn bacteria.
MRSA is sensitive to third generation cephalosporins, vancomycin and monobactems however, each time drug sensitivity should be done for each strain.
Surgery can only be initiated once MRSA infection is treated.
Unfortunately, you will have to undergo surgery to fix the hernias.
Use of mesh is a risk factor for acquiring MRSA so it is best avoided.
Thus, to summarize MRSA treatment should be done first followed by surgery for hernia.
Post-operative care of wound is of paramount importance to avoid hernia formation again.

Thanks and take care
