Suggest Treatment For Heel Pain

My granddaughter (9) has been having pain in her heels after a day of school and when she plays on her basketball team. She ends up walking and running on the balls of her feet. Her shoes are top of the line. No trauma that we know of. Could this just be growing pains?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that she may have plantar fasciitis. This is the most common cause of heel pain.

It refers to inflammation of tissue called the plantar fascia that is found in the foot and connects the bones in the heel to the toes.
Treatment involves the use of medications such as ibuprofen or cataflam along with certain exercises.
The types and images of the exercises are available on line.

She may need to reduce the time on her feet.

I hope this helps
