Suggest Treatment For Heavy Bleeding After Undergoing A Medical Abortion

Hello. I had a medical abortion a little over ten weeks ago. I bleed very heavily ( like I was supposed to) right away and then it slowed down as was expected. The consistent period amount bleeding lasted about 6 weeks and now I am having extreme heavy flow spells and losing huge clots (size of a golf ball) almost every day. It feels like my uterus is reopened or dialated(like the original abortion process) everytime I go through these spells. I bleed right through a jumbo tampon pad and my underwear before I can get to the bathroom most times and then when I get there the huge clots come out along with a ton of gushing blood. When I try to put another tampon in to get back to my day it feels like it s tiny compared to the opening it s going in. Also making me dizzy when I go through the blood loss. And have been in pain everytime and a while after each spell, crampiness, weird sharp pains. What do I do? I have called the Clinique twice and they don t seem to think it s is a big deal but it is interfering with my life. And does not seem normal at all especially considering the bleeding was only supposed to last for 6 to 8 weeks and I am way beyond that. What could this be and what can I do? Have not been sexually active since before procedure.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood your concern. In all probability, you seem to be having an incomplete abortion. Your history of persistent heavy bleeding with large clots occurring in bouts associated with pain is suggestive. You need immediate medical attention for further management. Please see a specialist, get proper evaluation and if necessary admission to improve your situation. A sonogram of the pelvis, blood counts, clotting and bleeding profile should be done immediately. If retained products are the cause of the bleeding, check curettage should be done with monitoring of vitals. If it is not, medical management with styptics and hormones should be tried. Hope this helps.
