Suggest Treatment For Heart Palpitations And Shortness Of Breath

My heart is beating really fast and I can feel it in my ribs when I lay down. I'm also short of breath and feel like I'm panicking but don't know why. This is not the first time this as happened to me but it's the worst I've felt. Do you know what could be wrong with my heart ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Anxiety can cause an increase in heart rate, it is one of the common causes though it is considered only after causes have been ruled out.

To determine if it is related to another cause you need to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment which would include blood pressure, assessment of your pulse.
Blood tests to check for anemia and thyroid hormone levels

An ECG would also be needed.

Treatment would depend on the cause found. If there is no inherent heart disease, no anemia or thyroid disease and anxiety is confirmed then treatment would be started for this condition.

I hope this helps
