Suggest Treatment For Heart Palpitations And GERD

Hello My name is ika, 48 yrs , 159/44.5 3 weeks ago I was stared having heartburn and kinda needle pricking on my chest due to Gerd (I have probem with my gastric for years). My GP told me heartburn and chest tightness probably due my gerd bur suggested me to have blood test and EKG. Other than my total cholestetol (210) other other tests incl EKG came back normal. My normal bp is around 120/80 - 110/70. The next week aftet test I went to see internist as I has sudden thumping heart palpilationanf bit of short breath without chest pain. I had thorax photo and the result came back good, evertyhing lung/chest are normal. Also went to cardiologist and upon checking my blood test /ekg/rontgen and normal test, she said I m okay and I eorry too much and said it s more likely psychomatis. 2 night ago suddenly out of blue my heart thumping so fast and again caused me short breath but I had no chest pain . I rush to hospiral and see cardiologist. My heart is stil pumping and my bp spiked to 140/90 (first t me in my life). My ekg cameback as borderline normal (my heart rate was 91). I checked and mske compaison between my 1st ekg (took 2 weeks ago) and current one, the difference doesn t too much and still in normal standard. I was pale and my chest still pumping but when my cardiologgist checked my bp came a bit lower (135/85). My doctor just prescribed me xanax and briefly said he wants me to have stress test to rule out heart problem and my current situation due to my anxiety (I had anxiety 3 years ago but it was much lighter) I m scheduled to have stress test tomorrow. Is it possible that my panic attact/anxiety caused so much spike to my bp and changed my ekg result from normal to borderlibe normal in the span of two weeks only.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have heart palpitations and GERD. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are due to abnormal functioning of sphincter of esophagus . In this case lifestyle changes will be very important .I would suggest you to eat light and non spicy specially at night , eat at least one hour before going to bed , take light walk after eating and keep your head elevated while sleeping. Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ambulatory acidity test along with endoscopy and x-ray of upper digestive track . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , proton pump inhibitor .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
