Suggest Treatment For Head Injury

I hit my head a few weeks ago on the back tail light of my car while unloading things. I have a dent in my forehead that won't go away and when I put pressure on it, it still hurts a little. I was wondering if there is anything I can do, such as massaging the indentation, to help it heal and be smooth again.

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The dent over forehead could be due to

: fracture - Sometimes head injury can cause depressed fracture. It can be operated or left as such. Operation is needed if it is present along with large bleed, bone piece is embedded in brain or its covering layer(Dura), cosmetically it looks ugly, open wound along with it.

It can only be confirmed by X ray skull or CT head. You have to consult it with doctor to get CT head. If it is present in your case, you can go for surgery if it looks bad cosmetically. Otherwise I don't think you have any other symptoms. Already one week has passed and you are in good condition which suggest no brain damage.

: No fracture only depression in bone. It can occur after injury but in adults it is rare. It is treated symptomatically like for pain or swelling. No surgery is needed for it.

Diagnosis can be confirmed by CT head. For this, you have to consult doctor. No need to worry.

Head massaging or any local application of medicine can not correct it. If you are fine and able to do activities, then it can be observed. Pain will subside in 10-14 days on its own. Still in doubt, you should consult doctor.

Hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
